My Grandfather’s Wisdom

Dutch abstract artist Maxime Camilia captures in her work femininity, vulnerability, and a combination of silence in today’s hectic world. She finds the inspiration in both, memories of a certain feeling or place, and in unexpected observations. Her intuitive practice lets her subconscious speak while painting.

By working mostly on unprimed canvases and leaving space untouched, her work comes with a sense of nature and rawness. Sometimes she adds texture to her work by applying parts of newspapers and illegible handwritten notes. Although she enjoys working with soft and calm tones, she reflects expression and strength with contrasting colors and mark-making gestures.

One-of-a-kind. Signed and dated 2021 on the reverse. The work comes with a certificate of authenticity.
